The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become one of the world’s most beloved musicals. Featuring cherished songs including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” and the title number, The Sound of Music has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide for generations.
The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who becomes governess to the seven children of the stern Captain von Trapp. Through music, kindness, and determination, Maria brings joy and warmth back into the household. As the forces of Nazism begin to take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a life-changing moral decision.
The Sound of Music earned five Tony Awards and five Academy Awards and remains one of the most celebrated musicals of all time. The Sound of Music is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization.
